Paul's second album as a piano
trio for 2009. 11 new tracks with a range of different feels from Country to
Funk to Straight Ahead. Inspired by a gamut of pianists from Oscar Peterson to
Lyle Mays, the album retains a sense of individuality displayed by all three
players, either as soloists or when playing as a unit. To listen to samples click

John Vincent -
bass guitar, originally from London,
moved up to North Yorkshire about six years ago. Whilst he was in London, he was
heavily involved in the London jazz scene playing regularly with big bands and
notably with Duncan Lamont. Since moving north he has got his own function band
together as well as playing with many local bands.
Richard Miles -
drums, the youngest member of the
trio is a versatile performer on drums, bass, guitar, and piano but this autumn
sees him starting a recording course at Huddersfield University. His band, La
Manga 5 come from the Northallerton area and are definitely worth catching up
with, playing a mix of 50's and 60's music. However, he enjoys the challenges
and pleasures of jazz drumming.
New Production/Library album - Major/Minor 24
Checkout www.proudmusic.de and put Paul Carroll in composer search. You should come up with the tracks.
The album is based round acoustic grand piano and acoustic guitars with drums and bass. All 24 tracks cover all 24 major and minor keys. A bit like Bach's 48 but not quite! There's nothing deeply significant about this, it was just a handle to throw my ideas around. Available in UK from French Kiss Production Music or me!
Paul is also playing piano with jazz quintet Chill Factor - featuring the music of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Thelonius Monk and many other names of modern jazz. (...keyboard solo featured some lush chord voicings from Paul Carroll. Cumberland News.) Available for bookings.
And if that ain't enough, he's currently doing shows with Contraband who are presenting a Rat Pack extravaganza.
